  • The Story of Saffron

Also known as "Red Gold", it is the most precious and refined natural spice in the world.

Considered the 'Symbol of Light', the plant produces purple flowers, each flower having 3 red stamens which are subsequently extracted from each harvested flower and then dried, resulting in the spice known as saffron.

With a long history spanning ancient cultures, saffron has been prized for both its culinary virtues and its medicinal properties.

The aroma of saffron is unmistakable , a subtle yet powerful combination of hay and honey, with warm and slightly earthy notes.

  • Methods and areas of use

Used both in gastronomy , for its delicate aroma, intense color and refined taste, and for therapeutic purposes , for its beneficial health properties, these qualities make saffron more than just an ingredient. They transform it into a treasure of nature.

    In gastronomy:
Only a few saffron threads are used for each serving, enough to release the authentic flavor and color.
This careful dosage highlights the superior quality of the whole stigmas, guaranteeing a unique taste and nuance.

    For therapeutic purposes:
In addition to its irresistible aroma, saffron is also known for its medicinal/therapeutic properties.
Packed with antioxidant compounds and essential nutrients , this precious spice has been used for centuries in traditional medicine for its health benefits.

From its anti-inflammatory properties to its potential to improve mood , saffron is also used as a natural remedy.
Its properties therefore make it useful for this purpose as well, being often used in: creams, essential oils, floral waters, dietary supplements (therapeutic and sports), aphrodisiacs, soaps, perfumes, but also homemade teas.

  • Real or fake saffron?!

Real saffron is recognizable by its intense color, strong aroma, and thin filament, while fakes often have pale colors, a bland aroma, or are mixed with other plants.
In powdered form, saffron is easy to adulterate , being frequently combined with other spices.
In contrast, saffron presented in the form of whole stigmas reflects the true provenance and reinforces the belief in the quality of the product.
